At the same time, it needs to have certain liquid permeation resistance properties to prevent urine from penetrating into the layers beneath, keeping the top layer relatively dry.

Elastic Waistband Raw Material

When manufacturing products such as diapers or clothing, an elastic waistband is commonly used to provide a comfortable fit, ensuring that the product can accommodate users of different sizes. Common raw materials for elastic waistbands include the following:

Spandex:

Spandex, a synthetic fiber belonging to the elastane group, is made by polyurethane polymerization. It is a material known for its outstanding elasticity and stretchability. Spandex is widely used in the production of various disposable diapers, clothing, lingerie, and other products.Spandex features include:

  • Elasticity: The remarkable elasticity of Spandex allows for significant stretching without losing its shape.
  • Body-hugging feel: Its excellent elasticity enables fabrics to snugly fit body contours, providing a closer, more tailored feel.
  • Durability: Spandex exhibits high abrasion resistance, making it widely used in garments that require robust durability.
  • Lightweight: Spandex is a lightweight material, widely used in activewear, lingerie, ensuring not only elasticity but also wearer comfort.
  • Quick-drying: Spandex has good moisture permeability and quick-drying properties, suitable for applications requiring rapid moisture absorption and drying, such as sportswear.

Glue:

Glue is used to bond the elastic waistband to other parts of the product, such as diapers or pants.

Frontal Tape Raw Material

Frontal Tape is one of the disposable diaper raw material, positioned at the front of the diaper, typically along the waist area. It is used to secure the front end of the diaper, providing closure and adjustment functions. The purpose of Frontal Tape is to ensure that the diaper fits snugly and securely around the wearer's waist, offering a comfortable wearing experience.

Wet Strength Paper

Wet strength paper, used for making colored waistband stickers for pull-up pants, is employed to differentiate sizes and front/back orientations with the capability of printing patterns. The weight is around 15-20gsm.

Wet strength paper is a type of paper that maintains its strength in wet conditions. Wet strength paper typically includes wet strength agents during the production process, preventing the paper from breaking or losing strength when exposed to water or moisture. It is widely used in moist environments or applications that require resistance to humidity, such as wet wipes, moist toilet paper, and food packaging.

Characteristics of wet strength paper:
– Wet strength: Maintains strength in wet conditions, resisting decomposition or breakage, achieved through the addition of wet strength agents (typically chemical substances).
– Water resistance: Exhibits strong resistance to water, suitable for applications requiring waterproofing or moisture retention.
– Stability in moist environments: Retains shape and strength in moist conditions, making it valuable for specific purposes.
– Application range: Widely used in products like wet wipes, moist toilet paper, and food packaging that need to maintain strength and stability in humid conditions.

Non-woven Front Waist Stickers

Non-woven front waist stickers are made of spunbonded non-woven fabric using long-fiber spinning or short-fiber carding and hot air non-woven fabric composite. They can be printed with patterns, and common embossing includes wave patterns, hexagons, crescents, etc. The weight is around 45gsm.

Velvet

Velvet is a type of fabric designed with a woven pattern. Velvet fabric has a relatively high weight, and the velvet surface has some covering effects on the printed pattern of the base film, affecting the clarity of the printed pattern. The weight is 53-55gsm.

Mesh and velvet front waist stickers

Mesh and velvet front waist stickers are composite materials of fabric mesh or velvet and PP/BOPP film, with patterns typically printed on the film. Mesh is also called hook and loop fastener. The weight of the mesh is very low, and it does not cover the printed pattern of the base film, ensuring a clear pattern. The weight is 41-43gsm.

PP/BOPP

PP/BOPP, made from polypropylene (PP), is the material for the front waist stickers, available in regular and matte finishes, with a weight of around 23gsm.

Absorbent Core Raw Material

The Absorbent Core is one of the most crucial raw materials used in diapers. Positioned in the central region of the diaper, its primary function is to absorb and store urine, ensuring that the wearer stays dry and comfortable at all times.

Fluff Pulp

Fluff pulp is a type of wood pulp and grass pulp that undergoes bleaching, solvent extraction, and other processes. It is commonly used in the production of various disposable personal hygiene products such as diapers, sanitary napkins, and disposable bed sheets due to its absorbent properties. Common brands include IP, GP, Domtar, WestRock, Golden, and Huizhao. Untreated wood pulp (not subjected to improved pulp board fluffiness treatment) and treated wood pulp typically have a weight of around 735gsm.

Super Absorbent Polymer

Super absorbent polymer (SAP) is a high-molecular-weight substance capable of absorbing large amounts of water. After absorbing water, it expands and retains its water-absorbing properties. It is commonly used as a raw material in the manufacturing of absorbent products such as disposable diapers and medical dressings. Common brands include Sumitomo (Japan), Formosa/TAI (Taiwan), Sandia (San-Dia), and Bondex.

Absorbent Paper

Wet strength paper, used as a covering material for absorbent layers and pull-up diaper color stickers, typically has a weight of around 15-20gsm.

Airlaid paper undergoes special processing to give it a fluffy and porous characteristic. It is commonly used as a covering material for absorbent layers and typically has a weight of 40-80gsm.

Airlaid SAP paper is often used as the absorbent layer core and commonly has a specification of 150gsm (50% SAP).

Fluff pulp SAP paper is frequently used as the absorbent layer core and commonly has a specification of 150gsm (50% SAP).

5-layer absorbent paper, used as the absorbent layer core, consists of airlaid paper, SAP, fluffy cotton, SAP, and airlaid paper. Common specifications include 400-500gsm (40-60% SAP).

Acquisition and Distribution Layer(ADL)

The acquisition and distribution layer(ADL) helps disperse, vertically guide, and facilitate the quick, effective, and uniform absorption of liquids in diapers or sanitary napkins. It is often made from spunbond (17-23gsm) or hot air non-woven fabric (35-40gsm).

Leakguard Leg Cuff Raw Material

Leakguard leg cuff refers to a leak-proof leg cuff design commonly used in disposable diapers and other personal hygiene products. Its purpose is to prevent liquid leakage from the leg area, enhancing the product's leak-proof performance.It is typically made from water-resistant non-woven fabric, spandex threads, and elastic glue.

Backsheet Raw Material

Backsheet refers to the outer covering layer of disposable diapers (baby diapers, adult diapers, etc.). This layer is typically positioned on the outside of the hygiene product, directly in contact with the user's clothing. In the manufacturing process of disposable diapers, the backsheet plays a crucial role, providing functions such as leak-proofing, waterproofing, and external protection.

The key characteristics of backsheet include:

  • Waterproofing: Backsheet typically employs materials with waterproof or water-resistant properties to prevent liquid penetration onto the user’s clothing or bed.
  • Breathability: While requiring waterproofing, some backsheets are designed to be breathable to maintain user comfort.
  • Softness: Backsheet needs to be sufficiently soft to ensure wearer comfort and conform to the body’s curves.
  • Leak-proofing: It helps prevent liquid leakage from the hygiene product onto clothing or the surrounding environment.
  • Tearability: Backsheet is often designed to be easily torn for convenient product replacement.

The main raw materials for the backsheet of disposable diapers are:

PE Film: PE film is a non-stretched, non-oriented flat extruded film produced by rapid cooling of molten flow. The raw material is polyethylene (PE). The highest quality is 100% PE film without added recycled plastics. 90% PE film indicates that 10% recycled plastics are added in production. The weight is generally in the range of 18-23gsm.

Breathable PE Film: It is softer with stronger breathability and waterproofing, and better stretch. The weight is around 15gsm.

Release Film: Silicon is added to PE film, resulting in low stickiness and easy peeling. The weight is around 30gsm.

Composite Film: Composite film is the base film formed by hot melt adhesive compounding of flow casting film and non-woven fabric. Common types include full laminated and partial laminated. The weight is around 23-30gsm (breathable film + non-woven fabric).

Laminated Film: Laminated film involves melting plastic and spraying it onto the surface of non-woven fabric, followed by cooling. The weight is generally 18-25gsm.

Side Tape Raw Material

Side Tape is an essential component of disposable diapers (such as baby diapers, adult diapers, etc.). It is located on both sides of the diaper, usually along the waist and leg areas, to secure and adjust the fit of the diaper. The purpose of SIDE TAPE is to ensure a snug fit around the wearer's waist and legs, providing a comfortable wearing experience and preventing liquid leakage.

Key features and characteristics include:
1. Fixation: The primary function of SIDE TAPE is to secure the diaper on the wearer’s body, ensuring a tight fit and preventing sagging or loosening.
2. Adjustability: Side tapes are typically adjustable to accommodate wearers of different sizes, allowing diapers to offer a more personalized fit.
3. Easy Tearability: SIDE TAPE is designed to be easily torn, allowing wearers to open the diaper effortlessly for replacement without damaging other parts.
4. Adhesiveness: Side tapes need to have sufficient adhesiveness to maintain a secure fit during wear but should also be easy to tear open for convenient removal.
5. Material Breathability: Some SIDE TAPE materials may be designed to be breathable to allow air circulation, reduce moisture, and enhance comfort during wear.
6. Colors and Patterns: SIDE TAPE often comes in different colors or patterns for aesthetic appeal and to distinguish between sizes or styles of diapers.

Classification of Disposable Diaper SIDE TAPE:
1. S-Cut: S-Cut raw materials include water-resistant non-woven fabric, magic hooks, and hot melt adhesive. Common specifications are 90mm in width, with a hook surface of 20mm, and a weight of 110gsm.
2. Magic Tape (Y-Shape): Also known as Y-shaped tape, the raw materials include water-resistant non-woven fabric (PP), magic hooks, and hot melt adhesive. Common specifications are around 62mm*300m, with a weight of approximately 145gsm.
3. PP Left and Right Tapes: The raw materials, from top to bottom, include silicone oil, PP/BOPP, and hot melt adhesive. Common specifications are 62mm*600m per roll, with a weight of 130gsm. They are commonly used not only in diapers but also in pull-up pants or disposable pads for menstrual use.
